A Comparative Study of Bleaching Untreated, Chlorinated and Hercosett-treated Wool With Hydrogen Peroxide

Values for peroxide concentration, temperature and time of bleaching were established in accordance with a rotatable central plan of experiments for three variables. The materials used were (i) untreated wool, (ii) the same wool after it had been chlorinated in an acidic medium (the first part of the Hercosett process), and (iii) the same wool after it had received the full Hercosett treatment. The behaviour of the three different types of wool on bleaching with hydrogen peroxide has been compared through the response equations relating a given parameter to the bleaching conditions
