A Suggested Replacement of the Munsell Function for Colour-difference Formulae

At this stage the most generally successful formulae for colour-difference determinations are variations upon the Adams-Nickerson-Stultz formulation. This formula, in turn, was based upon a simplified model, due to Adams of the human visual colour process. In this the Munsell function was used to represent the non-linear transformation of basic cone responses which, in the simple model, were directly related to CIE tristimulus values
