Application of Phthalimide-based Alkali-clearable Azo Disperse Dyes on Polyester and Polyester/cotton Blends

Phthalimide-based alkali-clearable azo disperse dyes were synthesised and applied to polyester and polyester/cotton blends. These dyes have an alkali-clearable property that enables alkaline treatment to be substituted for conventional reduction clearing. Therefore, by using these dyes, it is possible to avoid generating dyehouse effluents with high BOD values and carcinogenic aromatic amines that may, in some cases be liberated by reduction clearing
