Colour Measurement of Carpets

With greater awareness now being shown by trading standards officers in the retailing of carpets together with consumers becoming more aware of their legal right, the number of complaints relating to colour matching of carpets has increased. In the past, retailers and manufacturers have had to make subjective assessment as to whether samples have been a commercial match or not, but this approach has invariably relied on nothing more than personal opinion. Indeed, one of the commonest complaints coming from today’s increasingly vigilant customer is the colour mismatch between the supplied carpet and the original sample chosen from the pattern book.
