Continuous Control of an Enzymatic Pertreatment on Linen Fabric Before Dyeing

Enzymic reaction in textile finishing must be very carefully controlled. To improve the dyeability and the wrinkle-recovery of flax fabrics, a major proportion of the pectic substances has to be eliminated, without damaging the cellulose. However, complete elimination of pectic substances may result in a fibre with no mechanical strength.
