Dihydroxy-diphenylsulphone and Salicylic Acid Derivatives in the Aftertreatment of Dyed Nylon

The adsorption of DOS syntan and the sulphosalicylic acid derivative by nylon 6 is studied. The colour fastness properties of dyeings produced in a one-bath and a two-bath system using these two chemicals are compared. Experimental results show that the sulphosalicylic acid derivative could be acting as a levelling agent, offering very little competition to uptake of DOS syntan by nylon 6 in the one-bath system
