Disperse Dyes Incorporating N-Substituted Carbamate Groups for Transfer Printing of Natural Fibres

Disperse dyes of both azo and anthraquinone types containing N-substituted carbamate groups as ‘masked’ isocyanate reactive groups have been synthesised. These dyes have been found to behave like reactive dyes containing free iscocyanate groups, when employed for transfer printing of natural fibres. The N-substituted carbamate groups in these dyes readily regenerates the isocyanate group during transfer printing, which in turn reacts with amino groups in wool or hydroxyl groups in cellulose
