Dyeing of Polypropylene/wool Blend in a Single Bath

A basic imidised styrene-maleic anhydride copolymer has been synthesised and used as an additive for production of a dyeable polypropylene fibre. Polypropylene staple fibres were intimately blended with wool in 50/50 ratio. The dyeability has been tested with the use of acid, metallised and reactive dyes. Sodium benzoate provided to be a suitable auxiliary agent for solid dyeing of the fibre blend. The light fastness represents a limiting factor in the choice of suitable dyes
