Environmental Aspects of Textile Processing

The paper outlines some developments in ‘clean’ textile technology opportunities for effluent treatment with peroxy compounds. Particular aspects dealt with are elimination of organohalogen compounds (AOX) from cotton bleaching and wool shrinkproofing, energy and COD reduction in the continuous preparation of cotton and its blends, dye oxidation without chromium compounds, and the removal of colour from dyehouse effluent
