Gold Medal awarded 2009 to Prof James Henry Nobbs

For outstanding contributions to colour science.

At present Prof Jim Nobbs is Senior lecturer in Colour physics in the Dept of Colour Science in the School of Chemistry at the University of Leeds. He started his career in physics, then polymer physics, then encouraged by Ian Ratee a post in non-textile coloration at Leeds University followed, and fi nally moving into the fi eld of colour science. In this area he has produced numerous papers and articles and been involved in developing several instruments for testing and analysing the properties of coloured materials. He has also been on many SDC committees ranging from the Publications Committee to the Technical Co-ordination Committee
