Gold Medal awarded 2010 to Dr Tim Dawson

For outstanding contributions in the field of publications, particularly Coloration Technology.

Tim was employed for 30 years at ICI in Blackley Manchester carrying out technical support for customer service. After taking early retirement he carried R+D on digital printing for carpets whilst working for UMIST. He has had numerous papers on dye application published in the JSDC and latterly his contributions to Coloration Technology have been invaluable covering subjects ranging from Biosynthesis and Synthesis of Natural Colours to Development of Effi cient and Durable Sources of White Light. His main hobby has always been boating and I think it is worth mentioning that on retirement he and his wife took a boat from Lancaster to Macon taking 4 months over the trip.
