Hydrolysis of a Disperse Reactive Dye for Application to Wool Fibres

The synthesis of a reactive dye in the anhydride form is described, and its kinetics of hydrolysis investigated at various pH values. Two hydrolysis products were identified. The experimental rate constants were determined by nonlinear approximations. It was found that the experimental rate constants depends on pH, with the maximum between pH 5 and 6. The best wool dyeing conditions were obtained by dyeing for 60 in at 100 ºC and pH 7
