Laboratory-to-bulk Reproducibility

The penalties for not achieving right-first-time processing in batch dyeing are severe, and success depends on the availability of efficient laboratory services to back-up production. The reproducibility of laboratory colour matching is often criticised and the reasons for this are discussed. Ways of overcoming these criticisms are detailed. Computer colour matching is a major dyehouse aid in obtaining ‘quick response’, but accuracy of laboratory dyeing can often be a major problem in achieving optimum results. Modern developments to improve the accuracy of laboratory dyeing are reviewed. A number of partnerships are required if the laboratory service is to be successfully applied
