Mass Coloration of Polyester and Nylon 6 using Perylene Pigments
The paper describes the mass coloration of polyester and nylon 6 using perylene-based pigments having groups structurally similar to the substrate. For this purpose, five perylene-based pigments were prepared by reacting 3,4,9,10-perylene tetracarboxylic acid dianhydride (PTDA) with methylamine, ethanolamine, glycine, 4-aminobutanoic acid and 6-aminocaproic acid. Structural characterisation of these pigments was carried out by elemental analysis, and electronic, i.r. and mass spectroscopy.
