A Record Year

Never in its 150 year history has the Textile Department has quite such a spectacular set of Finals results in Technology subjects as this year at UMIST. What is lacked in quantity was more than compensated for by quality, since 8 of of 15 students gained 1st class honours degrees! There were 4 in Textile Science and Technology (TST), 3 in Textile Technology and Management (TTM) and 1 in Clothing Engineering and Management (CEM). Three of the successful students were from the UK with one each from India, Pakistan, Turkey, Indonesia and China. 

The picture shows the four TST 1sts; from the left they are Yassir Dar, Rebecca Bennett, Rika Hinardi and Joanne Tock. All four are members of the SDC. The TTM 1sts were Y Hua, A Nalbantkazaroglu and K Shanmukham and the CEM one was Shelley Hutchinson. Congratulations to them all.
