Technical Manager, Process Machinery Division, Mather & Platt Ltd, Manchester

After a period with Leyland Motors Ltd, and war service with REME, he moved to Bleachers Association, where he became chief research and development engineer in 1959. For three years he was general manager of Richard Ainsworth, Son & Co. Ltd, before moving to Mather & Platt in 1970.
