Perkin Medal awarded 1956 to John Rex Whinfield

On the recommendation of the Society’s Medals Committee, Council awarded the Perkin Medal posthumously to the late WH Carothers for the discovery of nylon. The Perkin Medal was also awarded to John R Whinfield CBE MA FRIC for the discovery of Terylene.

The Annual Dinner, held in Leeds on 1 April 1955, was the event where the Medals would have been presented.
