Photofading Mechanisms of Dyes in Solution and Polymer Media

The aim of this review is to cover recent work in the mechanisms of dye photofading in solution and polymer media since the earlier review published (P Bently, J F McKellar and G O Phillips, Rev. Prog. Coloration, 1974, p. 33). A summary of the more general mechanisms of dye fading will be given for each dye class followed by a critical discussion of recent developments to date. The final section will deal with the dye- and pigment-sensitised photodegradation of polymers
