Kate has contributed much in the field of textile and design education by bridging the gap between design and technology, working with universities and commercial organisations, pushing the boundaries of design using unusual finishes and form, creating unique patterns and textures.

Her monograph “Fabric Dyeing and Printing” has become a standard in its field being translated into German and Spanish.

She has been instrumental in organising events such as the Days of Colour and workshops on coloration and indigo dyeing.
