The Efficiency of a Non-aqueous Shrink-resist Treatment in Controlling the Moisture Regain of Wool

The influence of several experimental conditions at different levels of wool moisture regain on wool shrink-resist treatments with sodium methoxide in 2-propanol have been studied. This study was carried out using a central rotatable design, in which the moisture regain, sodium methoxide concentration and treatment time were the variables and the percentage area shrinkage and degree of whiteness were the responses. The effect of treatment temperature on sodium methoxide exhaustion, shrinkage and wetting time of knitted merino wool fabric under the same experimental conditions were also considered
