The Exploitation of Colour Physics Technology in the Textile Industry – A Study in Technology Transfer

Whilst the technology is available for computer colour matching and quality control of the dyed shade, it is often difficult for the small textile dyeing company to assess the potential for this technology in its own operation. This paper describes a project, carried out with UK government financial assistance, in which a number of small dyeing firms have been assisted in evaluating this technology. Financial and technical benefits have been identified in all of the participant companies and a number of them have transferred the available technology into their production plants
