The methods used for preparing packages for dyeing are reviewed and the various advantages are discussed. The need to eliminate winding processes to reduce processing costs is highlighted and various processing developments are discussed. Experimental work compares the levelness obtained by using three different packaging methods on spun yarn and the costs of the various processing routes are compared
