The Reaction of p-Phenylenediamine with a Dichlorotriazin-2-yl Reactive Dye: Selective Monoacylation

Selective acylation of a symmetrical diamine with a dichlorotriazinyl reactive dye would enable novel bis-monochlorotriazinyl dyes to be synthesised, and facilitate the manipulation of dye sunstantivity and hue. We have succeeded in monoacylating p-phenylenediaminine, in acid solution, with the dichlorotriazinyl dye C.I. Reactive Red 1 in high yield
