The Redox Behaviour of Some Aminonaphthoquinonoid Dyes

The redox behaviour of some aminonaphthoquinonoid dyes including quinoxalinequinones, 2-arylamino-1,4-naphthoquinones and indonaphtholes have been investigated with the aim of developing new colour former systems for use as heat- and pressure-sensitive functional dyes. The dyes were reduced to the corresponding colourless leuco form, which were readily reoxidised to the coloured forms in the presence of atmospheric oxygen or oxidising agent.
