Amy Wain, a Printed Textiles and Surface Pattern Design student from Leeds College of Art is celebrating her sucess at the International Design Competition North of England Heat where she was awarded first place. Despite tough competition from colleges and universities from across the region who attended the heat at Perkin House on Tuesday 14th March, Amy’s design ‘Emotive Lands’ with its “excellent colour blending and mixing in situ” wowed the judging panel of industry experts including:
- Linda Hodgson, Lecturer and Textile Designer – Linda Hodgson Design
- Charles Ross, FRSA, Specialist in Performance Sportwear Design and Sustainable Matters
- Joanne Cocker, Textile & Surface Pattern Designer – Jojo Coco Design
Congratulations to Amy and to joint runners up Katy Longstaff and Laura Kavanagh, both Textiles Practice undergraduates from the University of Huddersfield for their respective designs ‘Free Play Interchange’ and ‘Asend’. A judges commendation was also awarded to Heidi Mortimer-Hicks from Manchester Metropolitan University for her “enchanting and imaginative project”,’Never Growing Up’.
Sincere thanks to our tireless judges and to all involved.
