United Kingdom

Becky Knott, a BA Hons Textile Design undergraduate of Falmouth University was awarded first place at the West of England and South Wales regional heat of the International Design Competition on Friday 24th March. Fashion and textile undergraduates from across the west of England and South Wales came together at South Gloucestershire and Stroud College who generously hosted the heat in the modern, state of the art Stroud campus building set in beautiful countryside.  Entrants presented their their colourful designs themed ‘Design for a Circular Economy’ to the expert judging panel :

Dr Savithri Bartlett – Research Fellow/Senior Lecturer, The University of Winchester
Sarah Little – Buying Director & Founder of The Blake Collection
Jo Neades – Woven Textile Designer, Fox Brothers & Co

In a keenly fought battle Becky took first place for her Agender childrens wear design, ‘Playful Horizons’.  Worthy runners up were Zoe Wenban also from Falmouth University and Zoe Woodford from Plymouth College of Art.  The judges also highly commended entries from Heidi Wyett and Sarah Court also from Plymouth College of Art.

Many thanks to all participants, our tireless judges who gave their time freely to judge the entries, Lichen Davenport for skillfully facilitating the ‘CSI Colour Workshop’ and to our hosts SGS College for their ongoing support.
