SDC Region Sri Lanka are proud to announce the winner of the Sri Lankan heat of the International Design Competition is Reanna Kahandawala, a BA (HONS) Fashion Marketing and Design student from the Academy of Design, Colombo.
The top ten finalists selected at the initial round of judging in July from Sri Lanka’s fashion and design institutions attended the regional final on 3rd August at the Colombo Courtyard Hotel, where they individually presented their designs to the judging panel of industry experts including:
Mihiri De Silva, Owner / founder of Red Cocoon and former Head of Design at Brandix
Piyumi Perera, Head of Design at Hiramani Industries
Isuru Punchihewage, Vice Chair SDC Sri Lanka and senior graphic merchant at Mast Far East – Sri Lanka.
In a closely fought contest Reanna took first place for her design ‘HYDRO’ inspired by the designs of Adidas and Victoria Beckham. Close behind was runner up Nipuna Rajapakse and Hafiya Moulana who received a judges commendation- both students also attend the Academy of Design.
