Rachel Wins West of England Heat

United Kingdom

Plymouth College of Art played host to the West of England & South Wales regional heat on Thursday 14th April when students from the length and breadth of the region came together to present their fresh and exciting designs to a judging panel that included Sue Scammel, founder & owner of Sue Scammel interiors and Sarah Little, Buying Director of the Blake Collection.
After a closely fought battle, Rachel Thomas, a BA (HONS) Textile Design student from Falmouth University took first place with her design ‘Connecting with Fragments of Nature’.  Kay Morgan, a BA Textiles student from Plymouth College of Art received a merited runner up for her design ‘Fusion’.  Lara Alfonso, a BA Hons Fashion Design student from the University of South Wales was awarded a well deserved runner up for her “exciting” menswear designs whilst a judges commendation went to Rebecca Farrell, a Foundation Art & Design student of Stroud and South Gloucestershire College for her “excellent concept and beautiful design boards”.
Participants were also treated to a viewing of the stunning, contemporary Timorous Beasties ‘Bedsit Exhibition’ and a tour of the cutting edge facilities the college has to offer.  Many thanks indeed to Plymouth College of Art for their hospitality, to our judges Sue Scammell and Sarah Little and all involved.
