Do you want to spend a day learning about how we see colour and create it, and forecast textile trends? Our new design-oriented course is calling!

Are you a colour professional who is passionate about the design aspects of production? Our new one-day course, ‘Colour in Design and the Textile Supply Chain’ could be just what you need to bolster your knowledge and sharpen your skills!

This exciting offering from our inhouse colour education team is online and self-led – allowing participants to learn at their own pace, consuming the eight hours of content in their own time, to fit in with their busy schedules.

The course content will be of great value to textile designers, fabric technologists, or anyone making a start in the industry. The course covers all aspects of colour and its role in the supply chain – from trend forecasting to colour control. It also offers a focus on the environmental impact of textile production and how everyone involved in colour can be part of the solution in reducing this impact.

All participating students are certain to benefit from the unique perspective offered by our expert contributors. The modules of this course cover:

  • Trend forecasting as part of colour communication in the supply chain
  • The fundamentals of how we see colour and its influence on our choices and procedures
  • Practical aspects of creating colour: What we can do, and how
  • Practical, instrumental assessment of colour for a global supply chain
  • The positive benefits for the environment and sustainability of having a robust colour communication policy in place.

Learners can access this course directly from the SDC – but its SCORM compliance means  educational institutions too can co-opt and host this content on their own virtual learning environments.

This means it can be used as standalone module for universities, colleges and companies as part of their course content.

Students who have already completed the course and have received their SDC validated certificate have been keen to offer feedback.

“I feel design students would really appreciate the relevance of this course – is very informative and useful and I would highly recommend it,“ said one participant.

Another commented: “The course material is neatly broken down into easy, consumable bites, gradually building on knowledge and reinforcing understanding. This really helped with studying to my own schedule and enabled me to complete the course at my own pace.”

The course is available to purchase in both bulk and individual study formats through our Colour Network, with discounts available to institutions.
