The Society of Dyers and Colourists
Meeting of the SDC Communications Forum
Date and location
Participants: The anticipated membership of the Forum is large and diverse both on location and responsibility, therefore, there is a need to organise the session differently than normal Committee or Society Board Meetings
In Attendance: (Organisation of the session, all participants will be muted, other than the Chair, Vice Chair, the administrator and secretary. Clearly the speaker/s for the agenda item will be unmuted for the duration of the item. Since it is important that we gain involvement, any other participant wishing to contribute or ask a question will raise his hand in Teams and the administrator will open the microphone for that point)
- Welcome and Apologies. Declarations of new conflicts of interest
- Minutes of the previous meeting
- Actions and Matters arising from the minutes
- Report from Committees (on rotation)
(Perhaps we can have two Committees, and two Regions reports say 20 minutes each. This will be a rolling process so all committees will probably have 2 reports annually. The content should be a brief on the key activities, action progress and suggestions and questions) - The Society’s Board Report: (This should be given by the Chair of the Society’s Board, containing similar topics as those for the Committees)
- The Perkin House Report: (Given by the CEO).
- Open discussion: (This will include new and existing initiatives, suggestions, since the concept of the meeting is both communication and development of ideas to progress the SDC, open discussion should be encouraged to be free ranging and active. I anticipate the sessions to be in the region of 2 ½ hours, tight rein on the discussion and strict chairing of digressions particularly if they lie outside the set agenda items. This might seem to contradict the spirit of Open Discussion; we’ll have to give it a try and trust the judgement of the Chair not to become “Trumpian!”
- Any other business
- Date of the next meeting
