The Day of Celebration 2020 takes place on Friday 1st May at the Merchant Adventurers’ Hall in York. Booking will open later in the year.
The day includes the AGM, Awards Ceremony, President’s Reception and Celebration Dinner.
Daytime events are free to attend although booking is essential.
The programme includes:
10.30 Registration opens
11.00 Annual General Meeting (open to SDC members only)
13.00 Buffet lunch
14.00 Awards Ceremony and keynote speakers
16.15 (approx) finish
18.30 President’s Reception
19.30 Celebration Dinner (black tie)
What does it cost and how do I book?
There is no charge for attending the daytime programme of events, although booking is essential.
The cost for attending the evening drinks reception and dinner is £68.40 (£57.00 plus VAT).
To book your place, please complete the online booking form.
We have agreed set room rates at three hotels in York city centre for guests attending the Day of Celebration to book and pay for direct – please quote ‘SDC’ at the time of booking. Please be aware that all the rooms are subject to availability so early booking is advised.

Friday 1st May – £105.00 bed & breakfast
Saturday 2nd May – £135.00 bed & breakfast
(rates are single occupancy, double occupancy £10.00 per night supplement)

Please note: the date of the Day of Celebration has been changed from 8th May, which had been previously announced. The UK government has changed the May Day Bank Holiday for 2020 from 4th May to 8th May to coincide with the 75th anniversary of VE Day. As a result, the Day of Celebration will now take place on 1st May.
