Inspire. Empower. Upskill — catch up with Sustainable Fashion Week founder, Amelia Twine
In the SDC’s most recent webinar, we welcomed Amelia Twine — founder and creator of A Single Thread (AST) and Sustainable Fashion Week (SFW) — to discuss her career journey so far and to discover more about the initiatives.
If you missed the live session, you can watch the recording — free to SDC members and £20 for non-members. The webinar covers the rationale behind A single Thread (AST) and how it works to bolster engagement within the creative community, with the aim to inspire customer behaviour change.
Amelia also highlighted the different entry points to sustainability in fashion, making it more relevant and accessible to people from all backgrounds.
Commenting on the session, Amelia said: “My aim is to help people understand that fashion can be good, but community and environmental wellbeing must be placed at the core.
“There is a real power in inspiring people at grassroots level to embrace creativity in providing alternatives to fast fashion. Sustainable Fashion Week is always looking to engage with the wider community, particularly those from diverse backgrounds with varying interests.

About Amelia
While Amelia’s career initially started with investigating sustainability within food systems, she now works to campaign on a just transition for an equitable, regenerative fashion industry.
Amelia also provides consultancy and project management for various organisations including Southwest England Fibreshed, which connects farming and fashion, and Hive Community Business School, an organisation working to reimagine the high street for community benefit. She also offers ad hoc support to two fashion roundtable committees, advocating for policy change.
