Introduction to the Colour Index

Colour Index Generic Name (CIGN)

Colour Index Constitution Number (CICN) This provides you with the main categories which are used to classify colorants. It also has a link to the CICN sub groups which will be useful to look at to understand the complexity that is involved in the classification system.

These sections are available for anyone but to be able to search the site you must log in. Press the button on the top right of the screen. The most important part of the site is the search facility. Here you will see that you can search by Generic Name, Commercial Name, Registrant, Constitution Number. Use this access not only for this course but also for other courses being taken where either the CIGN or CICN is given use this to learn to make connections.
