A useful tool to print off and use for all fibre related courses is this fibre classification diagram. When answering questions in essays or examinaitons it si always useful to show that you can use and understand both the full form and short form of fibre names. When writing long answers it is best practice to use both forms the first time that the name is used and then the short term can be used after that. e.g.
The chemical strucutre and dyeing of Lyocell (CLY) is a complex topic. CLY is a man made fibre derived from a natural polymer cellulose.
Short forms may also be used alone in questions.
