This next extract from Shore – Cellulosic Dyeing on the degradation of Cellulosics to various media may seem out of place in this lesson. However it is useful to look at the degradation in relation to the strucutre and then use this information when looking at ancillary processes in lesson 13. A look throguh the various agents thatthis extract covers should form your previous experiences make you aware of the processes that are under consideration.
Therefore we have added here the chapter on Preparation from John Shore – Cellulosic Dyeing. This again provides useful background for 5.13. There will not be a requirement to know machinery in detail as this course is concerned with the chemistry of the processes which will be covered in more depth in 5.13. This same extract will be available in that lesson.
