Sustainable Fashion Week – Amelia Twine

Date: 07/11/2023

Time: 2:00 pm

Location: Online

Join Amelia Twine, Founder of Sustainable Fashion Week as she looks at the creation of  SFW and how grass roots level engagement can be a driver for change.

Following a career in sustainability in food systems, Amelia now works in campaigning for a just transition to an equitable, regenerative fashion industry.

Amelia ran a sustainable womenswear platform, before founding A Single Thread CIC (AST) in 2020. AST works in creative community engagement to inspire consumer behaviour change. Highlighting the different entry points to sustainability in fashion to make it more relevant and accessible to people from all backgrounds.

AST ignites community-led action to inspire, empower and upskill people – equipping them to change their fashion habits. AST delivers activities throughout the year, which can range from: clothes swaps or repair cafes to multi-collaborative or creative projects, to providing briefings to members of parliament – as well as delivering the flagship Sustainable Fashion Week (SFW) event each September. The only fashion week of its kind, SFW takes part across the UK (and pops up in India, USA and Papua New Guinea in 2023). Led by the community, for the community.

Amelia provides consultancy and project management for various organisations including Southwest England Fibreshed (to connect farming and fashion), Hive Community Business School, (to reimagine the high street for community benefit) and offers ad hoc support to two Fashion Roundtable Committees (to advocate for policy change).
