Course Overview
This webinar covers the reasons why we need to measure colour and focuses on the colour measurement of surfaces. It looks at the history of colour matching experiments which led to the development of instrumental colour measuring systems. The relationship between the way that the human eye and brain interprets colour appearance is explored to illustrate how equations have been developed to allow colour measuring instruments to “mimic” the human eye.
The use of colour difference measurements for comparing coloured samples with standards (pass/fail) is also be covered. The development of colour measuring instruments from the 1930s to the present day is illustrated. The presentation is followed by a Q&A. This webinar was organised by the SDC North of England Region.
