SDC Online Forums

The SDC provides a number of online Forums to assist regions in keeping in contact with those interested in their activities.  Formal SDC Regions contain ‘SDC’ in the Forum name.  Other Forums are available also where it is considered there are 10 or more SDC Members in that country.  All SDC Members can access all online Forums.  Hence, if a Region is hosting an online event for example then others from outside that Region can see details and request to join that online event. This accessibility is also a benefit to those who reside in one region but travel to and / or work in another country.

SDC Members, and especially formal SDC Regions, are encouraged to post in the relevant Forum about news and events.  Note that you will need to be logged in to the SDC website Members area first so your membership status is known before you can access the SDC Online Forums. The ‘Joined date’ shown under your Forum Profile is the date your details were added to the SDC website and is not the date you joined the Society as a Member.

Access to several aspects of the SDC Online Forums is governed by SDC Membership status as indicated in the table below. Note that this applies to individuals current membership status and if that should lapse then access to SDC Online Forums will be impacted.  Those individuals who are not SDC Members but registered on the SDC website (which includes lapsed members) have minimal access to SDC Forums (as Registered Members of the Forums). In this way they can see some of the benefits if they join the SDC as Members.

The best way to keep in contact with SDC Forum activity is to Subscribe (which is free of charge) to Forum updates.  This will mean you will receive an email when the Forum has new information. This can be all or specific Forums as you select.  To choose Forum Subscriptions then access the Online Forums and under ‘My Profile’ at the top of the Forums you will see ‘Subscriptions’.
