SDC Midlands Region AGM & IDC Heat

Join us for the SDC Midlands Region Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Wednesday 25 March 2026, hosted at De Montfort University in the Vijay Patel Building, VP4.11 (POD). The meeting begins at 6:30pm.

Guest Speaker

We are pleased to welcome Dr Chetna Prajapati, a Senior Lecturer in Textiles at the School of Design and Creative Arts, Loughborough University. Her research is dynamic and wide-ranging spanning the breadth of the textile discipline, which involves using design to tackle social, environmental and sustainability issues to bring about positive transformation. Her talk will focus on discussing her research, which has explored the design potential offered by enzymes, replicating biological processes found in nature to produce textile dyes, and deconstructing textile fibres to create new and interesting materials using enzymes. Her current research explores how enzymes can be used to separate different textile components from waste to extract valuable resources that can be used to create new circular textile materials and products.

• 1:30pm — Midlands Heat of the SDC International Design Competition
• 6:30pm — AGM
• 7:00pm — Dr Prajapati’s talk followed by the presentation of competition winners and runners‑up

A buffet will be provided for attendees.
