The following polyesters are perhaps the more important polymers within this class of fibre – Polyethylene Terephthalate (PET), Polybutlyene Terephthalate (PBT) , Polytrimethylene Terephthalate (PTT) and Poly Lactic Acid (PLA). It would be a useful exercise to look into the manufacture of these polymers, just to help with your understanding of how their structure and properties arise.
