Geoff Rudkin gained an Honours degree in Textile Chemistry from the University of Manchester Institute of Science & Technology (UMIST) which was followed by the award of an ASDC by examination. In 1990 Geoff became a Fellow of the SDC. Geoff has worked in a Midlands UK Dyehouse before joining BASF (and learning German in the process) and then setting up and working as MD of M Dohmen UK Ltd. International work has included support for sales teams in Pakistan and Thailand. Geoff retired in 2020.
Geoff has been involved in many parts of the SDC over time: Leicester Student Section on the committee and as secretary; served on the SDC Qualifications Committee; plus Chaired the SDC Education and Qualifications Co-ordinating Committee. Geoff sat on the SDC Council and then joined the SDC Board as a Trustee when elected in 2014 and again in 2017. Geoff holds Bronze, Silver and Gold SDC Medals!
Outside of the SDC Geoff has been a Primary School Governor for to decades, Chair of the school’s Finance Committee and Chair of the School Governing Body for 4 years. He is also active in various local community committee roles including as treasurer of the village (colourful) firework display.
