Taking up the post in early 2012 Graham came with experience of running a charity with a subsidiary trading company, as per the SDC, and had also experience of working in product sales and technical training for a UK colour measurement company.

Graham Clayton has a BSc in Biology & Education from the University of Stirling, as well as a teaching qualification (Dip.Ed). From those studies he went to the University of Plymouth to undertake a PhD in the population genetics of disease in aquaculture. Whilst a Civil Servant he also undertook a management qualification (Dip. Mgmt.) at Henley College.

Graham could be described as an IT and technology fan which means some of that might also be found to extend into the Society! He was born in West Yorkshire, so not too far from the Society headquarters, although has lived in different corners of the UK – Stirling, Plymouth, Kent, York and now sort of near Wetherby (although really in the middle of farmland). Married since 1983, with three adopted and now adult children, other non-SDC time occupations are varied from attending a Christian church, to keeping up the battle with nature in the garden. A fan of tech the house is connected to a few smart devices, his garden mower and strimmer are green and cordless electric, and he is (still) awaiting delivery of a new all electric car!
