I spent a seven-year apprenticeship at a commission Dyers, following which I was a shift Dyer, and then Dyehouse Manager.

I then joined a large Dyestuff manufacturer and had several roles including Technical Manager, Sales Manager and Product Manager.Following redundancy, I joined an American dye company as Sales Manager, then progressed onto Regulatory Affairs Manager.

Since my retirement I continued as a Consultant for three Dye related companies although have now fully retired from my Consultant role also. I am also a partner in an Archaeology business.
