Farming sustainability in textile production with Zydex Group
For the latest webinar in our sustainability series, we welcomed Dr Ajay Ranka, chairman and managing director of Zydex Group.
With sustainability at the core of Zydex Group’s passion for learning and innovation, our latest webinar with the organisation’s chairman, Dr Ajay discussed sustainability within farming and agriculture, focusing on the appreciation of chemical-free cotton.
The session also covered how pigments can provide an eco-friendly alternative to reactive printing that eliminates the steaming and washing process, while also increasing the number of colour designs with higher productivity. This relationship between the innovative methods in the industry is said to increase productivity alongside a reduction in energy and water consumption.
Commenting on whether processes and innovations are moving big and fast enough to reverse the damage already done to the environment within the cotton and pesticides industry, Dr Ajay said: “We need to stop pushing millions of chemicals into the soil in today’s environment. If we take this new set of technology, we can control the rate of pollution, and potentially reverse this within 50 to 60 years.”
