This latest conference organised by SDC EC was an outcome of a collaborative endeavour involving dedicated contributions from GIZ, Society of Dyers & Colourists India, and ISCMA. This joint approach facilitated the exchange of diverse perspectives, which proved to enhance the quality of the conference to attendees.
The event was organised with the purpose of advancing sustainable development within the textile sector. The specific objectives of the event were:
- Explore innovations in wet processes and dyeing
- Promote environmental responsibility
- Showcase leading ideas and practices
- Highlight transformation through sustainable materials
- Address multiple dimensions of sustainability
The purpose of the conference was centred around driving positive change in the textile industry by promoting sustainability, showcasing innovations, and inspiring collaborative efforts among industry stakeholders.
Mr. Sandeep addressed and welcomed the chief guest, keynote speakers and participants. He spoke about the role of the Society of Dyers and Colourists India and its CSR presence, as well as recently completed projects.
Ms. Roop Rashi Mohapatra discussed how sustainability strategies are being adapted in the textile industry, as well as the carbon footprints generated and the water consumption used in various processes. Her talk emphasised the sustainable prosperity of the textile world.
Mr Anjani Prasad briefly presented his views on sustainability across the value chain of textiles. He also highlighted global technological trends and advancements happening within the sector, as well as the importance of automation, artificial intelligence, and machine learning in manufacturing.
Dr. Vijay G. Habbu, in his special address, discussed the sustainability in the Indian fibre and textile industry being a multifaceted effort encompassing raw material sourcing, production processes, consumer awareness, and regulatory frameworks.
