The SDC Webinar Series

Speaker; Dr Anita Quye, Senior Lecturer in Conservation Science and Head of History of Art at the University of Glasgow

Dr Quye graduated from the Universities of Strathclyde and Glasgow with a chemistry degree and forensic toxicology doctorate, then worked for National Museums Scotland in the Department of Conservation and Analytical Research and on the Royal Museum Project for 20 years before taking up her lectureship in 2010. Her heritage science research of natural and synthetic dyed textiles in archives and museums combines chromatographic analysis with their material, decorative art and technical histories. Anita is especially interested in eighteenth and nineteenth century dyeing manuals and pattern books like those in the Bradford College Textile Archive, and her investigations include the chemical diversity of early triarylmethane dyes besides recognising the importance of the Crutchley Archive and leading its research.
