On 12 February, the Society of Dyers and Colourists marked a truly uplifting milestone with the successful launch of its Textile Collection at Perkin House in Bradford. A moment that brought together history, innovation, and a whole lot of enthusiasm. The atmosphere was warm, celebratory, and filled with a shared sense of pride as colleagues, partners, and supporters gathered to witness the unveiling of a resource that opens the door to centuries of colour science and textile heritage.

Although the archive itself was first announced publicly in 2024, its official launch event brought that vision to life in a meaningful, community centred way. The collection will showcase more than 50,000 artefacts, journals, books, and treasures spanning the rich evolution of dyeing and textile printing from 19th Century dyers’ notebooks to the renowned Turkey Red Collection.
